Lenks is yet another short redirection site, but tries to create features that the other websites don't have in order to make things easier and safer for you.

To give the site a little gimmick we refer to created links as "Lenks". Perhaps later on this will become a well known tool to people and this silly word will be known by groups across the internet. But maybe not.

Creating a Lenk has many different benefits.

It's easier to link people to websites in emails. (long links will break apart and the recipient will have to combine the lines onto the address bar)
Lenks are extremely short! You can post them in places with limits on the amount of characters per message (like a chat box on a website)
Trustworthy! (read the Lenk Previewing feature below)
Keep track of how many Clicks (or Downloads?) your Lenk has recieved.
...and much more that I can't think of off the top of my head right now!

Some (unique?) features of Lenks are...

User Registration: Registering an account gives you access to some handy features like viewing/managing your Lenks, email notifications, reporting abusive Lenks, and other useful features.

Lenk Previewing: Before you give someone a Lenk, you might want to give them access to the preview feature beforehand. In case you have a friend that isn't very trustworthy or has seen a lot of shock sites in his day. Once you create a Lenk you will be given the default Lenk (http://lenks.net/#) and the preview Lenk (http://lenks.net/preview/#). Preview Lenks are a little longer in size than the default Lenk, but could get your Lenk clicked on more. (Plus, give us a little publicity.)

Lenk Reporting: If you are directed to a bad website you can go back and report it (by going to http://lenks.net/report/#). Once a Lenk is reported, anyone else redirected to that link will first be brought to a warning page and given a preview (same concept as http://lenks.net/preview/#)

Tools: Lenks also has Tools to help you create Lenks faster and from any website. Tools like the Firefox Search Bar and the Javascript Toolbar Button (more information on their functionality on the Tools page).
